SWCA Environmental Consultants is expanding their Flagstaff, Arizona Cultural Resources team and looking for a dynamic individual to assist the Flagstaff cultural resources team leader with: project management, fieldwork, and reporting.

What you will accomplish

  • You will assist with project and task management; oversee and/or perform all aspects of fieldwork, data collection, inventory, analyses, and report production. You will collaborate on and prepare proposals and/or reports and other technical documents, conduct archival research.

Experience and qualifications for success

  • Master of Arts degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Art History, or a closely related field is preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience with a range of field methodologies; including survey, testing, excavation, and monitoring in the State of Arizona is required
  • Ideal candidate meets or exceeds the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Archaeology and Architectural History
  • Familiarity with the full-range of cultural resources services, including archaeology and historic buildings, structures, districts, and landscapes
  • Familiarity with Federal and State cultural resources laws and requirements, including Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, the Arizona Antiquities Act, and the Arizona Historic Preservation Act
  • Prior experience preparing or conducting consultation among Federal and State agencies, and the Arizona State Historic Preservation Act
  • Experience with project management software tools and preparation and management of project budgets and schedules is preferred
  • Ability to travel to a location, walk and conduct fieldwork for long hours, sometimes in inclement weather, rugged terrain, extreme temperatures, and ability to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds is required
