About the opportunity

SWCA Environmental Consultants is looking to expand our range of ecological services in San Antonio, Texas!   The central Texas region is quickly growing and we need motivated environmental specialists who are ready to start their move into project management.  


Our Alamo City office works in a variety of businesses sectors, including land development, transportation, water, state & local government, oil & gas and renewable energy.  This is a chance for a long-term career, learning from some of the most experienced Texas consultants in the fields of T&E species, karst geology, habitat conservation plans, general ecology and NEPA-compliance. 



What you will accomplish

The successful applicants are team-players but also dynamic individuals, following their passion to deliver the highest-quality project work.  We are looking for people with an ecological background, particularly experience with Clean Water Act and National Environmental Policy Act compliance.


Your role will be varied and adjust as you grow at SWCA - helping senior PMs complete their projects, building proposals and budgets, engaging and leading fieldwork teams, tracking project progress, report writing, providing regulatory guidance and interacting / building your own network of clients.


SWCA is an employee-owned company where your efforts in building SWCA are repaid through ownership shares that are given to you each year.

Experience and qualifications for success

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in biology, botany, environmental science, natural resource management, or other related field required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Prior report or academic authorship in a natural resources consulting context for a variety of project types and sizes, regions, and agencies
  • Able to demonstrate through report writing a knowledge of federal, state and/or local regulations (i.e., NEPA, CWA, and ESA) governing natural resource management; Texas and Gulf Coast geographic regional experience preferred
  • Possess advanced skills and knowledge in one or more specialty scientific areas (e.g., keying rare plants, conducting protocol surveys for special-status species, etc.)
  • Able to lead field staff on a variety of project types and sizes, regions, and agencies
  • Willingness to eventually increase your level of responsibility, including supervising, providing leadership, and mentoring for other professionals
  • Desire to conduct business development and increase your consulting acumen, including connecting with prospective clients, engaging existing clients and authoring proposals.
