About the opportunity

SWCA is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for the Natural Resources Program in our Bismarck, North Dakota office. The Assistant Project Manager will possess knowledge of stormwater plans, GIS and Wetland delineation. This is a regular, hourly position. 

What you will accomplish

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Manage projects and milestones within schedule and budget expectations
  • Prepare protocols and supervise surveys for sensitive habitats and species; including general surveys for report writing, focused or protocol-level surveys, and pre-construction surveys
  • Prepare reports related to Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, National Environmental Policy Act, technical documents, proposals and other written deliverables related to various permitting/planning and compliance projects
  • Prepare permit applications and work with agencies during the permitting process
  • Take initiative, resolve problems, and create improved procedures to assure tasks are completed in the most effective manner
  • Must be in the Bismarck office at least 8 hours/day M-F (unless traveling for work); willingness to work overtime when needed
  • QA/QC oversight of field data and reports
  • Develop reclamation and mitigation plans specific to biological resources
  • Maintain a collaborative work environment and positive morale between SWCA staff, subcontractors, and clients

Experience and qualifications for success

Job Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in biology, environmental science, natural resource management, or other related field required; Master’s Degree preferred
  • A minimum of two (2) years combined experience in project management, environmental consulting, or ecological studies required
  • Working knowledge of natural resources issues in North Dakota required
  • A demonstrated competency with some or all of: biological survey methodologies, storm water management and regulation, geographic information systems, and wetland identification and delineation
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and with technical writing
