    SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking Wildlife Field Technicians to participate in small mammal surveys for our Portland, Oregon office. You should be able to work a varying schedule that offers at least 160 hours in April and May. 

    What you will accomplish

    Conduct surveys and collect data for Washington ground squirrels. Record data on field site forms or other forms.  Use topographic maps, aerial photographs, GPS units, and other maps and tools to determine exact locations of project areas, habitat types, and associated landforms.  Photograph appropriate habitat, species, and landforms.  

    Experience and qualifications for success

    • Minimum of B.A. or B.S. in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related field required
    • Knowledge of wildlife survey techniques
    • Minimum of 1 year of experience in related fieldwork required
    • Ability to drive a 4wd vehicle on rugged, back country roads
    • Ability to travel to a location, walk and conduct fieldwork for long hours, sometimes in inclement weather, rugged terrain, often at high altitudes, and ability to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds is required
