  • About the opportunity

    SWCA is actively seeking to fill an Assistant Project Manager position within our Cultural Resources Program for our Denver office. This will be a full-time hourly position and the candidate will typically work 40 hours per week depending on workload. Overtime may be possible. This will be an office-based position; however, fieldwork sessions—including potentially out of town and overnight travel—are expected sporadically. Pay rate will be based on individual qualifications and experience.

    What you will accomplish

    Responsibilities (but not limited to):

    • Professional report and site form preparation, research, and literature reviews
    • Data quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), organization, and tracking
    • Supervising report preparation tasks of one or more employees in the office
    • Leadership (problem solving, decision making, team building, and conflict resolution)
    • Communicating with Project Managers and GIS staff through regular, scheduled status reports
    • Assist Project Managers with developing and tracking scopes, schedules, and budgets


    Experience and qualifications for success

    • A Bachelor’s degree in anthropology or a closely related field (at a minimum); a Master’s degree is preferred

    • Experience in the SWCA – Denver service areas (e.g., Rocky Mountains, Great Plains, Colorado Plateau/Great Basin) preferred.
    • Previous field supervisory experience.
    • Experience with data management, QA/QC, and progress tracking is required.
    • Ability to be listed on federal and/or state permits in the SWCA – Denver service areas (e.g., Rocky Mountains, Great Plains, Colorado Plateau/Great Basin).
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to travel and conduct fieldwork for long hours and extended periods (sometimes in inclement weather, rugged terrain, and at high altitudes) and to carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
