  • About the opportunity

    SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking temporary, seasonal Environmental Field Technicians for our Bismarck, North Dakota office. Experience with avian surveys, endangered species habitat evaluations and/or plant identification is preferred. This is a great opportunity for recent graduates or upper-level college students who are seeking summer, temporary seasonal field work experience.

    What you will accomplish

    • Assist with field data collection for natural resource field surveys; including but not limited to wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species habitat assessments, vegetation surveys, migratory bird surveys, and general wildlife assessments
    • Organize equipment for field studies
    • Record data in the field and prepare reports for natural resource studies
    • Use topographic maps, aerial photographs, GPS units, and other maps and scientific tools and equipment under arduous field conditions
    • Locate and use existing reports, scientific studies, data and other relevant documents for preparation of scientific background reviews

    Experience and qualifications for success

    • A minimum of a Bachelor`s degree in fish and wildlife science, biology, ecology or related field preferred; current students pursuing there degree will be considered.
    • One or more field seasons conducting wildlife or environmental fieldwork highly preferred.
    • Must be able to conduct fieldwork for long hours, in sometimes severe weather conditions, including walking at least 10 miles in rugged terrain, and be able to carry equipment and supplies weighing greater than 30 pounds.
