  • About the opportunity

    SWCA Environmental Consultants is expanding their team and looking for a NEPA Specialist to join the Salt Lake City, UT office.  


    Our Salt Lake City office offers a unique work environment and is looking for individuals who possess a strong skillset in natural resource consulting and project management, particularly environmental planning and NEPA compliance. 

    What you will accomplish

    • Serve in a variety of capacities ranging from technical writer to project manager for a variety of resource management and conservation planning projects, as well as preparation of NEPA documents
    • Manage projects including budgets, technical staff, and reports related to NEPA compliance documents, particularly environmental assessments and environmental impact statements, with secondary expertise in natural resource disciplines relevant in the Intermountain West
    • Contribute to expanding SWCA’s professional reputation in natural resource consulting and research
    • Assist in the writing and development of complex natural resources planning and management documents
    • Provide assistance on a diverse type of NEPA projects, including land-use planning, mining, water resources, alternative energy, transmission, and transportation-related projects

    Experience and qualifications for success

    • Bachelor’s degree in environmental planning, environmental science, biology or a related field
    • Three or more years of experience preparing and managing NEPA documents required (or similar levels of experience in report completion, as well as scheduling and budgeting of projects)
    • Demonstrated experience managing or leading large tasks associated with NEPA and planning projects with excellent developer and agency references
    • Experience working with Department of Interior (DOI) NEPA protocols and requirements, including for Bureau of Reclamation, National Park Service, and Bureau of Land Management
    • Experience working with agencies directly as well as project applicants and proponents with NEPA documentation guidance and review
    • Familiarity with a wide-variety of project types, including land-use planning, transportation, mining, linear projects, etc.
