  • About the opportunity

    SWCA Environmental Consultants is expanding their team and looking for an environmental compliance specialist to support project delivery, manage and track progress of environmental-related tasks. This position will require a proactive, initiative-seeking individual who can demonstrate exceptional inter-personal skills and discipline while maintaining the highest-quality, detail-oriented, and well-organized project work.

    As part of an interdisciplinary team, this position will assist with the collection, preparation, review, and/or organization of contractor submittals and reports. A working knowledge of major linear project construction on federal and private surface, biological and cultural resources, and regulatory processes, including but not limited to, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Clean Water Act, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans, and Inspections (SWPPP) is required.

    • Review and organize contractor submittals such as variances, reports, drawings, maps, plans, and construction-related documents, etc.
    • Close interaction with clients and professionals 
    • Ensure tasks are completed in the most effective manner with the utmost degree of quality and reliability
    • Work closely with SWCA staff to promote SWCA’s business interests in adherence to its mission, vision, and values

    Experience and qualifications for success

    • BA or BS in environmental planning, environmental science, natural resource management, geology, or related field required 
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in related work required
    • Experience with environmental compliance and a strong knowledge of linear project construction and construction-related documentation
    • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local permitting laws and processes required
    • Excellent inter-personal skills, including demonstrated ability to learn new tasks, be well-organized, and function exceptionally within a high-paced team setting is mandatory
    • Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, and Acrobat
    • Familiarity with mapping software such as ArcGIS is preferred
    • Able to work in remote areas with constant attention to safety
    • Must be able to travel
