    SWCA's Phoenix, Arizona office has immediate need for several ON-CALL Cultural Resource Technicians for upcoming field projects int he Phoenix, Arizona metropolitan area. 

    What you will accomplish

    The successful candidates would assist SWCA's project manager with: archaeological field projects, including monitoring, surveying, and excavation projects; documentation of cultural resources, including data collection, completion of field forms, digital photography, GPS data capture, and in-field mapping; assistance with report preparation commensurate with writing skills; assistance with archaeological lab processing and curation if work is available. 

    Experience and qualifications for success

    • Only local metropolitan Phoenix, Arizona candidates will be considered. No lodging will be provided for local Phoenix area work. Please clearly indicate on your resume and/or cover letter if you consider yourself to be a local candidate.
    • Applicant must be able to provide own reliable transportation to and from SWCA's Phoenix office; company vehicles will be provided for fieldwork. 
    • Ability to accommodate flexible work schedules desired (long days or weekend work may be needed)
    • A Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology or closely related field OR successful completion of a qualified Tribal Cultural Resource Monitoring Program, preferred. Substantial work experience may be substituted for academic credentials. 
    • Previous Cultural Resource Management field experience preferred, especially experience monitoring construction activity for archaeological materials.
    • Ability to recognize and roughly categorize typical Phoenix area ancient and recent archaeological artifacts, archaeological contexts, and human remains is required.
    • Applicant must be comfortable working in a construction work environment equipped with full PPE.
    • Familiarity with Occupational Safety and Health Administration Trench Safety guidance is preferred. 
    • Ability to work alone or as a team member required. 
    • Familiarity with data collection using mobile tablet technology and Trimble GPS preferred.
    • Ability to travel to a location, walk and conduct fieldwork for long hours, and ability to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds is required
