What you will accomplish

  • Develops compensation and recognition strategies to ensure programs are designed competitively, executed efficiently, and align with company goals and objectives, as well as meets federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Creates, monitors and maintains compensation programs and practices on an ongoing basis.
  • Leads cyclical compensation planning processes such as salary range review and development, merit, bonus, and base pay planning. Conducts an annual equity review to ensure employees are compensated fairly and consistently, providing non-discriminatory equal pay for equal work.
  • Creates, updates, and maintains job descriptions, as well as updates and maintains job and position pertinent information in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) in a timely, effective, and accurate manner.
  • Develops and maintains the company’s market data repository, including salary surveys and other benchmarking related sources. Participates in appropriate benchmarking surveys and studies, as well compiles and analyzes results.
  • Develops and presents recommendations on an ongoing basis based on market research findings, including market analysis for annual salary range, merit, and market adjustments.
  • Serves as a consultant and advisor to leadership as it relates to compensation and recognition related questions, issues and/or other needs. Ensures leaders have the appropriate guidance and resources to make sound pay decisions.
  • Creates communication and outreach tools and resources to enhance the understanding of the company's compensation and recognition programs. Designs and distributes materials to increase employee awareness and understanding of programs.
  • Develops, implements and monitors compensation and recognition processes, procedures and standards. Creates and maintains department process and procedure documentation.
  • Must possess excellent writing skills to develop and disseminate effective and clear communications regarding compensation programs, processes, and practices. Proven experience communicating complex technical information effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as on team and/or cross-functional initiatives.
  • Requires excellent attention to detail, commitment to follow through, and ability to work independently with general oversight, and respect for established deadlines.
  • Must demonstrate effective relationship development/management skills and the ability to effectively interact with all levels within the organization, in both individual and group settings. Requires ability to collaborate and work closely with others on the Human Resources team, as well as other key corporate departmental partners.

Experience and qualifications for success

  • Must possess a strong knowledge of business or human resources as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or related field. Demonstrated experience in lieu of a degree will be considered. 
  • Strong background and understanding in compensation as normally demonstrated through 7 years of progressively responsible experience participating in and/or leading the design, implementation and management of compensation programs, policies, and practices.
  • Advanced analytical skills to perform financial modeling, as well as analyze complex data and identify pertinent information and trends using graphic illustration. This includes proven experience extracting and analyzing data from multiple systems/sources and presenting findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Advanced knowledge of office software, including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.


Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated understanding of HR systems; report writing skills.
