About the opportunity

SWCA Environmental Consultants is looking for a talented Staff Land Services Specialist to support our projects with work distributed across the Northeast of the United States.

 

This is a permanent, hourly, full-time position that offers a hybrid work environment.

What you will accomplish

  • Represent clients in the renewable energy sector by securing land for solar, wind and battery electric storage projects.
  • Initiate contact and engage with landowners about acquiring a lease, easement, or purchase agreement on their property.
  • Communicate with clients, community members and landowners effectively in verbal and written form.
  • Participate in regular calls or meetings with clients and stakeholders to provide updates and address concerns.
  • Support community meetings to educate the public on the project details and the development process.
  • Create and manage spreadsheets and Google Earth KMZs.
  • Collaborate with private and public-sector entities to maintain goals and timelines.
  • Prepare written materials and presentations for client or agency consumption.
  • Interpret and communicate complex lease and purchase option documents to multiple audiences.
  • Successful candidates are personable, communicative people who have “never met a stranger” and are comfortable talking with people from a variety of backgrounds.

Experience and qualifications for success

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Knowledge normally obtained through a Bachelor’s degree in related discipline.
  • 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Office products.

Preferred:

 

  • Experience in land development, energy development or stakeholder engagement relevant experience.
  • Understanding of mapping resources.
  • Attention to detail while handling multiple landowner’s and multiple client’s contracts.
  • Involvement with local community associations.
  • Previous experience or education in renewable energy, electricity markets, energy policy, or environmental permitting.
  • Real estate knowledge.
  • Sales or land acquisition background or experience.

Additional Information:

  • Willingness to travel up to 50% regionally with occasional travel domestically.

An employee in this Chicago, Illinios-based position can expect an hourly pay rate of $23.10/hour – $29.40/hour. Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law. Regular-status employees are also eligible for performance bonuses.
