About the opportunity

Do you thrive in the pursuit of ensuring excellence in environmental consulting services for your clients?  New England Environmental (NEE), which is now part of the SWCA Environmental Consultants family, is expanding their team and looking for a Sr. Wetland Scientist who shares in the passion in delivering the highest-quality project work.

 

As a Professional Wetland Scientist you will be technical lead at our Amherst, Massachusetts office. 

 

What you will accomplish

 

  • Completing wetland resource area delineations and functional assessments.
  • Preparing wetland permits in accordance with State, Local, and Federal guidelines.
  • Preparing reports and proposals, including figures.
  • Managing project budgets and coordinating project work.
  • Managing junior environmental staff and interns.
  • Working well in both field and office environments.

Experience and qualifications for success

  • Bachelor’ degree in Wetland Science, Biology, Plant/Soil Science, Ecology or other related environmental science, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience working with Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act Regulations.
  • You must hold a certification as a Professional Wetland Scientist by the Society of Wetland Scientists.
  • Registration as a wetland scientist by the State of New Hampshire, and/or qualifications of a soil scientist in the State of Connecticut, preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in project permitting, impact assessments, proposal preparation, environmental planning and wetland delineation/mitigation.
  • Demonstrated experience with local, state and federal wetland permitting programs (CT, MA, NH, RI, VT, and ME).
  • Demonstrated successful client relationships and experience working with subcontractors and regulatory agencies.
  • Demonstrated success in new business development, preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to produce high quality written reports and verbal presentations at hearings.
  • Skills in MS Office, ARC GIS and GPS data collection,
  • Ability to travel regionally (New England, New York, Mid-Atlantic).
