Our Denver, Colorado office offers a unique work environment and specializes in environmental consulting and natural resources management.


What you will accomplish

Your role will be to assist the senior ecology staff and natural resource project managers in development of biological survey methods, supervision and quality control of field data collection, database structure design, statistical analysis, and mitigation strategy development. You should also be skilled in biological  field survey techniques for collecting observational and spatial data concerning vegetation, terrestrial, and avian species common in sagebrush and grassland ecosystems. Technical writing and geospatial data analysis aiding in completion of survey reports, impact assessment documentation, and mitigation strategies for compliance with Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act.  Also assist in analysis and technical writing for Section 7/10 Biological Assessments, Eagle Conservation Plans, Habitat Conservation Strategies, Bird and Bat Conservation Strategy, and Wind Energy Guidelines experience strongly preferred. Conduct literature reviews as appropriate and assist with proposal development.

Experience and qualifications for success


  • Minimum of a Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related life sciences field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience completing biological surveys, fieldwork, habitat assessments, wetland delineations, and/or construction monitoring experience in the Rocky Mountain and Great Plains regions
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing and reviewing technical documents, public speaking or presentation of scientific data
  • Proficient use of ArcGIS, geospatial data processing, spatial modeling and statistics, and/or similar experience
  • Knowledge of Rocky Mountain and Great Plains ecosystems and species; preference for experience with habitat assessments for listed species in the region and handling or presence/absence survey permits held
  • Additional consulting and regulatory experience for Endangered Species Act, National Environmental Policy Act and Clean Water Act preferred
  • Ability to travel to a location, walk and conduct fieldwork for long hours, sometimes in inclement weather, rugged terrain, often  at high altitudes, and ability to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds is required
