SWCA is seeking a Lead Restoration Engineer to work from our Salt Lake City, UT location. SWCA is a nationwide environmental consulting firm and is 100% employee owned. Our Utah and Colorado group is growing and is in need of a senior design engineer to assist with stream restoration, wetland restoration, watershed management planning, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, erosion and sediment control plans, and resilience planning for private and public sector clients. Projects will include sites in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Nevada, New Mexico and support of other projects across the U.S. The position will entail travel and short-term overnight efforts to collect field data and meet with clients. We are seeking a skilled Environmental Engineer or Civil Engineer who has experience in stream channel design, hydraulic modeling, shear stress calculations, stormwater management facility design, geomorphic process assessment, erosion and sediment control design, and project management. The candidate must have a strong skill set managing junior level staff and business development. The position will also require coordination with multiple disciplines including: CAD designers, GIS analysts, environmental biologists, and other engineers, as well as regular interaction with regulatory agencies, municipalities, and clients.   This position can be hired at the following levels:  - Lead Restoration Engineer – Typically with at least 8 year of relevant experience and expertise - Senior Restoration Engineer – Typically with at least 10 years of relevant experience and expertise

  SWCA Environmental Consultants is an employee-owned company of environmental professionals who specialize in natural and cultural resource management, environmental planning, and regulatory compliance. We are expanding our aquatic resources team out of our Pasadena office, and we are looking for a professional  who is enthusiastic, motivated, and enjoys aquatic resource technical work.   We are seeking a Staff Level Biologist (HR title: Staff Level Biologist  – Wetlands) to conduct aquatic resource field delineation surveys and prepare technical reports and permit applications for projects across Southern California. Tasks include assessing conditions, collecting data, mapping resources using a Tablet, drafting data results, discussing preliminary results with subject matter experts, assessing the jurisdictional status of observed resources through research and coordination, and communicating findings in an aquatic resource delineation report that complies with multiple resource agencies standards. In addition, a key element of your job will be to independently supervise environmental survey crews in the field.   Requirements include being able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of hydrologic systems and streams in the Arid West, completion of either formal or informal delineation training course, and/or have sufficient experience delineating aquatic resource features and boundaries. Additional delineation training and support may be provided through mentorship with an experienced delineator out of our Pasadena office. While a remote work schedule is allowed, you should be in, or close to, the Greater Los Angeles region to accommodate field work and in-person training opportunities.    The applicant should be able to work independently for 40 or more hours per week, on a sometimes fluid schedule, when project timelines dictate. The applicant should have basic training in evaluating hydrophytic vegetation, hydric soils, and hydrologic indicators, ordinary high water mark indicators in the Arid West, and problematic wetland situations. The position will provide development opportunities for applying or gaining additional experience preparing Regional Water Quality Control Board Section 401, United States Army Corps of Engineers Section 404, and California Department of Fish and Wildlife 1600, permit applications, submitting applications, and coordinating project information requests. This is a regular, full-time position, and the applicant should be located in, or be willing to relocate to the Greater Los Angeles region of Southern California, such as Los Angeles County, Ventura County, San Bernardino County, Orange County, or Riverside County.   Position title will be based on level of experience and can be one of the below titles: - Assistant Staff Biologist - typically up to 1 year of related experience  - Staff Biologist - typically 2 years of related experience

SWCA is seeking a Project Restoration Ecologist for SWCA’s New England operations to contribute to the growth of our ecological restoration practice (specifically in the leadership of our invasive plant management practice). The ideal candidate will be interested in developing a long-term consulting career that combines high-level technical expertise with commercial acumen and leadership. Prior experience is necessary in the planning, design, and implementation of invasive plant management programs in upland and wetland environments; hiking trail construction; lake and pond assessment and management; habitat conservation planning and restoration; and the implementation of ecological restoration in wetland or other sensitive resource areas for public and private clients.    This position is a regular, full-time, salaried position, reporting to the Ecological Restoration Team Lead. The position offers the flexibility to work from a home office, or our Westborough or Amherst, Massachusetts offices with travel to projects throughout Massachusetts and southern New England.     This requisition can hire at two levels:  - Assistant Project Restoration Ecologist; typically, with up to three (3) years of relevant experience and expertise  - Associate Project Restoration Ecologist; typically, with up to five (5) years of relevant experience and expertise.

Our Arlington office offers a unique work environment, involving close collaboration with the other natural and cultural resources management teams in Austin and San Antonio, providing services throughout all of Central / West Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. The position is based out of our Arlington (DFW) office, and the applicant must be willing to relocate, if not already there.   As a Cultural Resources Crew Lead (HR Title = Staff Archaeologist), you will be an integral member of our collaborative team, contributing to successful projects in our local offices and with other SWCA offices as part of OneSWCA. Your role will be to lead archaeology field crews in support of a variety of renewable energy, energy transmission, transportation, oil and gas, and land development projects. This means that a key element of your job will be to independently supervise archaeological survey crews in the field. The successful candidate(s) should be able to work outside in challenging conditions and travel extensively throughout the Central / West Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas regions. The successful candidate will also be involved with technical report preparation.    Compensation and Schedule: Starting at $23.25 an hour.   Work schedule would be six-days on, one day off (10-hour days). Per diem, housing, and company vehicles provided.Mileage reimbursement is provided for work-related use of personal vehicles.   Positions will be filled as soon as qualified applicants are identified.

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a Natural Resources Technician to join our growing staff in Pensacola, FL.  You will perform biological field surveys, assist with data collection and data entry, and with report writing for a variety of natural resources projects.  The office typically supports various projects in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi, as well as across the Central-East Region.  We work to support our client’s needs across multiple service areas including renewable generation, oil & gas, transmission, site development, and ecological restoration. The position requires the ability to work long hours in harsh conditions and be on the road for several days or weeks at a time.   This is an hourly/on-call position with the possibility to transition into a permanent role. The individual needs to be based in either the Pensacola, FL or Tampa, FL areas.
